Poker chips for different casinos are often customised with logo’s to suit the genre of the casino. Colours may vary, although the colour and value of the chips are usually the same, whichever website or casino you choose to use. It is important that you know the value of the poker chips as you do not want to place a bet to then realise that you have made a mistake regarding the amount!

If you are playing standard poker, the chips, will consist of 5 coloured chips each with their own value, $1 white, $ 5 red, $10 blue, $25 green and $100 black. If you are playing full poker, there will often be other coloured chips, $2 yellow, $20 grey, $50 orange, $250 pink, $500 purple, $1000 burgundy, $2000 light blue, $5000 brown. Standard poker chips will also be used during full poker. Learn these values as you will be able to place a bet without fumbling around trying to find your correct amount.

Many players usually have their poker chips colour stacked, this makes it easier to select the chosen amount quickly, also it can be considered quite rude to have your poker chips in a jumbled up pile, as this may delay the game whilst you are trying to find chips. This is a mistake often made by amateurs, and during games it makes it easier for other players to spot a newbie, thus reading their opponent.

When taking part in poker you may notice that other players are performing tricks with their chips, whilst this is amusing you should beware as this is often done in the hopes of putting people off their game. If you are paying more attention to their chip tricks you are not concentrating on your cards.

Casino poker chips are used instead of cash, you will find cashiers placed around the casino and at individual game tables. If you play online poker you will find that the chips are automatically done as soon as you make a deposit. Chips cannot be transferred to other casinos, you must always cash in your chips before leaving the premises otherwise you risk losing money!

All gambling should be done in a responsible way, if you go to your destination with a limit to how much you can spend, you will be acting with a mature attitude towards gambling. Never buy poker chips from members of the public, you run the risk of purchasing fake chips which will not be allowed for use, and you will lose money!

It is common for lovers of poker to be interested in poker chip collecting, some of the collections that I have been lucky enough to see have ranged from rare chips from the 1800’s, to the ore modern chips found in today’s casinos. The layout of such a collection often goes on value and colour, but others may prefer to have them in geographical order. Each casino has a unique customisation of the chips, in doing this they are reducing the possibility of fraudulent chips being made.
